Group History

Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons was established in 1940 by Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed who opened his first shop in Al Tijjar road and conducted business with imported electrical goods, sugar, tea, coffee and sandalwood beams for roofing. Soon after, the company became the provisions supplier to the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), the British Navy and Royal Air Force due to a reputation built on honesty and goodwill.

In 1946, the company began representing prestigious international brands after securing agency agreements for General Electric Company (GEC) and Lister Blackstone. The brands grew over the years to include Nissan, Infiniti, Ford, Renault, Toshiba, Hitachi, Komatsu, Sony, Bose, Nikon, and Kodak, just to name a few, thus resulting in the exponential growth and expansion of the company.

The company’s commitment to social responsibility is equally matched by its belief in Bahrain’s economic potential. Investments in myriad industries and services continue to create jobs, spur business activities and help develop the Kingdom’s economy.

Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed will always be remembered as a visionary and pioneer in the business industry whose strong faith in God, commitment to excellence, desire to succeed, trust in his country and empathy to his fellowmen touched the lives of many people. His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren who are managing the continued success of the Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Group today. His life journey is an inspiration to the future generation of Bahrainis to dream, believe and achieve a better quality of life.
